New appointment demonstrates commitment to equine and food producing animal portfolio

A former veterinary nurse and lecturer with a wealth of experience in animal health has joined Dechra Veterinary Products.

Rachel Tomlinson-Leyden has taken up the role of Equine and Food Producing Animal Sales Manager for Dechra in the north of England. She will deliver increased customer contact and targeted support for veterinary professionals across the region.

The appointment is a strategic move by the firm to further strengthen the team that supports its Equine and Food Producing Animal portfolio, which includes Equipalazone®, Osphos®, TAF Spray® and Bovocycline®.

Rachel started her career as a veterinary nurse, then spent two years as a veterinary nursing lecturer.

She has an MSc in Animal Biology, and a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour & Nursing. Rachel also holds a postgraduate degree in teaching.

Rachel, who lives in East Yorkshire, has a lifelong passion for animals and said her new role is a perfect combination of her personal and professional lives.

“I’ve always loved animals, and owned my first pony at two-years-old, along with a wonderful childhood of growing up with dogs, cats, ferrets, cattle, donkeys, tortoises, and an iguana!” she said.

“Dechra has always been a stand out company for me within the veterinary sector, and having a background in dairy and equine, it was a goal of mine to work for the organisation in this role.

“My background with a wide range of animals including reproduction and locomotion within the dairy sector, general veterinary health of companion and small animals, horses and general hands on experience with cattle and sheep, will benefit the customers we support.”

Rachel has also helped rear game birds and spends her spare time horse riding and dog walking.

Emma Jennings, Dechra Brand Manager, said: “Demand for our Equine and Food Producing Animal products continues to grow year on year and Rachel’s vast experience in this field will be a welcome addition to the Dechra team.”
