CPD is a Family Affair at VET Festival 2019

            7-8 June, Loseley Park, Surrey

A unique ‘Family Hub’ tent in which delegates can watch key lectures via a livestream while their children play is a new feature at this year’s VET Festival.  It is a response to delegate feedback and aims to ensure that parent-delegates can participate fully in the cutting-edge learning on offer while still remaining with their children. A variety of activities including dressing up, arts and crafts and reading will be provided for children, together with a soft play area for small children and an area for nursing mothers. The Family Hub is generously supported by MWI Animal Health.

VET Festival 2019, now in its fifth year, aims to combine inspiring, world-class CPD for the whole practice team with an outdoor ‘festival’ atmosphere. The comprehensive clinical programme features globally recognised speakers who will share the latest insights and thinking in their areas of specialism.  Dedicated streams on nursing and on practice development and veterinary wellness complete the programme.

Commenting, Nicole Cooper, event director, said: “Many younger professionals are also the parents of small children and their primary reason for attending a CPD event is to learn. It can be difficult for them to concentrate on lectures if they are also looking after their children or are concerned that they are disturbing others so, in the Family Hub, they can watch key lectures live and listen to all of them using headphones while their children are kept busy close by with a wide range of activities.”

She added: “The Family Hub will be welcoming, relaxed and comfortably furnished and will be a great addition to this year’s VET Festival.  We’re really excited to be introducing it and are sure it will prove very popular with the many young families that attend.”
