Description

Independent and first opinion mixed practice is looking for an Experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join the practices team, Situated in the north east of Lancashire.  Growing significantly in the recent years. Currently undergoing a programme of major refurbishment with also an honour of winning a local business award for investing in their staff and providing a supportive work environment. The flexibility of how many hours/days you wish to work can be given if the ideal candidate is happy to cover the 1 in 8 on call rota.

Working alongside the supportive large team of 19 Vets split between departments of large and small animal. The Vet will work between two surgeries to maintain case continuity, with some lone work which may be required but in general you will be supported by excellent and dedicated Vet’s, Nurses and receptionists. Salary is negotiable dependant on experience!

Accommodation can be provided if required with a modern flat just walking distance from the main surgery also situated within a popular area with plenty bars and restaurants surrounding. Also, within a reach of a beautiful countryside perfect for walking. The facilities allow for good case work up and include a state of the art DR digital x-ray machine with cloud-based image storage, ECG, flexible endoscope, ultrasound scanner, tonometer, infusion pumps and a well-equipped lab including an electrolyte analyser.

Loyal clients of the surgeries appreciate the out of hours service which is provided however, OHHS is kept to a minimum as the practice knows how this can impact a vet. This provides and increases case exposures allowing to build experience and confidence in different areas such as emergency and critical care. Weekend OOH rota is approx. 1.5 in 8 with time off in-lieu. OOH telephone answering service, so no calls will be taken directly. In addition, you would be on-call one night a week every other week with the following day off. The rota is on a continuous 8-week cycle allowing you to plan your life ahead.

Health care plan is also provided allowing discounts and money back with employee’s treatments along with an excellent corporate gym membership. CPD and certificates are encouraged with an annual budget of £1000.  If you enjoy the city life the vibrant cities of Manchester and Leeds are within easy reach by road or public transport and offer excellent shopping and night life. The practice takes part in social events and challenges.
