Description | Valley Equine Hospital Internship Applications are invited from motivated and enthusiastic candidates for two fixed term 13 month internships, starting mid July and the start of September 2022. Valley Equine Hospital, located in Lambourn, has a wide and varied caseload including a large number of racehorses, stud farms and sport horses competing across all disciplines. Valley Equine Hospital is the largest referral hospital in Lambourn providing referral services for several hospitals and practices in the area. With a high surgical, orthopaedic and emergency caseload, our interns are exposed to and actively take part in the diagnosis and decision-making process, finishing with a well-rounded experience allowing them to pursue their career goals. The internship program at the Valley Equine Hospital is designed to provide a well-supported learning environment in which first year veterinarians can:
Duties include anaesthesia, care of inpatients along-side our team of nurses, diagnostic imaging and assisting with surgeries. The role also involves occasional routine and emergency ambulatory calls during the second half of the programme. The referral caseload includes lameness and poor performance investigations, medical and intensive care cases and elective & emergency surgeries. 1 in 2 OOH rota, on-site accommodation and use of a pool car during working hours are provided, RCVS membership is also funded.
