ROYAL CANIN® supports AVS congress

A hard-working group of students from The University of Liverpool hosted this year’s AVS Congress, on February 6th and 7th. ROYAL CANIN was one of the sponsors lucky enough to attend and witness the enthusiasm that vet students across the entire of the UK have for additional seminars, workshops and of course, a healthy amount of socialising.

Lee Danks, ROYAL CANIN’S Veterinary Scientific Support Manager and speaker at the event, presented ‘Know your nutrition…does diet really make a difference’. He commented: “It has been brilliant to be involved in such a key event in the vet student calendar. AVS is an opportunity for students to focus on their preferred interests in the world of veterinary science, to network, to enhance practical skills, and of course have a lot of fun!

“The ROYAL CANIN Student Ambassadors programme has been running since 2004 and allows us to better support vet students across the UK and Ireland. Charlotte Moss McCrory, our ambassador for the University of Liverpool has been a key member of the AVS organising committee this year.”

A 4th year student at The University of Liverpool, Charlotte said: “The event provided a great opportunity for an impressive 300 delegates to experience a wide range of brilliant speakers and a diverse set of practicals including suturing/spey practice, ultrasound scanning and exotics handling.

“Being involved with Congress and seeing the benefit to students of having access to organisations like ROYAL CANIN has made me appreciate my involvement with the ambassador programme even more. It gives a great introduction to being involved with a large company.”

ROYAL CANIN also ran a giveaway competition during the weekend from their stand in the careers fair, with lucky winner Kate Urwin from The University of Nottingham receiving a year supply of pet food.
