Innovation and improved user experience captured with new PRID Delta GT

Ceva Animal Health is launching new PRID® Delta GT on 1 August 2017, building on the success of PRID Spiral (launched 1980s) and PRID Delta (2010). Product development, with a focus on user experience and cow comfort has led to Ceva developing PRID Delta Grip Tail; a new and updated version of the well-known progesterone releasing intravaginal device.

The product retains the unique properties of PRID Delta, and now comes with a new and easy to use grip tail which makes it easier to extract from the cow.

Further research and development has enabled Ceva to produce a smaller applicator with a bevelled tip meaning it is more suitable for use in heifers. In addition to this, the applicator is more robust, leading to a reliable application and, again, a better user experience.

“PRID Delta GT combines the well-liked features that already existed in PRID, higher progesterone release and the comfort that comes from the triangular shape, with a new and improved tail for easy removal of the product,” explains Ceva’s Carol Atkinson.

Increased progesterone release comes from the higher surface area of the product, compared to T-shaped devices. PRID Delta GT contains 12% more progesterone than a T-shaped device and its larger surface area (29% greater) results in higher progesterone levels in the cow.

Two comparative fields studies showed that:

  • More cows were detected in oestrus after first AI when treated with PRID Delta (28% vs 16%)
  • 9% more cow were found to be pregnant at second AI in the PRID Delta treated group (45% vs 37%)

PRID Delta GT will be available in wholesalers from 1st August 2017 and a webinar with Dr Paul M. Fricke, Ph.D. Professor of Dairy Science and Extension Specialist in Dairy Cattle Reproduction Department of Dairy Science, University of Wisconsin will take place on 27th July at 1pm covering the topics of resynchronisation strategies and synchronisation strategies in heifers. The webinar ‘Reproductive Management Strategies for High-Producing Dairy Herds’ will be run on www.thewebinarvet.com where interested delegates can register.

Ceva is also launching a new App to help vets and farmers improve farm performance and sustainability through better fertility management.  The App will be made available to PRID users only and further information is available from your Ceva territory manager. If you are a PRID user and would like access to the new app you can also email Ceva on reprodaction-group@ceva.com.
