CPD, activities and social weekend in Yorkshire for recent veterinary graduates. 

SPVS are offering recent graduates (of the past five years) the opportunity to take part in a GradScene social weekend in Yorkshire. The weekend, hosted by course organiser Karmen Watson (ex AVS Council and Congress co-ordinator) will include a selection of fun, social outdoor activities as well as practical CPD.

You can go on your own and meet fellow Vet Grads or you can go as a group; perhaps invite all your old vet school friends to join in too. It is the ideal opportunity to not only improve your personal CPD but to make vital contacts within the Veterinary profession, as well as having fun!

There will be up to 7 hours of CPD included in the weekend. Your certificate that you receive will reflect the sessions you go to as it is up to you how much CPD you wish to attend. The provisional programme includes "Large and small animal tricks of the trade - drawing on 60+ years of experience of senior vets", "What you need to know about hobby farming" and "A beginner's guide to pet chickens". A forum session to discuss issues you have faced in practice and time to discuss issues with a boss who is not your boss.

The weekend course will be held from the evening of Thursday 18th until Sunday 21st October at Hebden Bridge; an attractive West Yorkshiretown close to thePennine Way, in a moor land setting with plenty of picturesque walks nearby.

It is recommended to book early to guarantee a maximum discount and to ensure a place!  

Accommodation is included in the full registration price at "Mama Wierdigan's"(http://www.hebdenbridgehostel.co.uk).  A clean, comfortable and inexpensive hostel close to the centre of Hebden Bridge. Or, for those wanting more luxury, book your own accommodation from the wide choice available locally.

Costs are as follows:

Full Registration:  

SPVS Member: £135 per person.  

Non Member: £235 per person.

Registration excluding accommodation:

SPVS Member: £65 per person.

Non Member: £165 per person.

£20 (0-2 years graduated), £35 (3 years graduated), £58 (4 years graduated), £88 (5 years graduated).

Full Registration cost includes: CPD, three nights hostel accommodation with continental breakfast, 3 packed lunches, teas and coffees, evening meals on Friday and Saturday, guided walks / runs and mountain bike trails and evening social activities.
