LONDON VET SHOW - A RECENT GRADUATES PERSPECTIVE

Apart from a little trouble finding the press office, and then my press pass... I would say the 2012 London Vet Show was a great experience!

Packed with stalls offering everything from recruitment to dog toys, orthopaedic supplies to the latest in small furry nutrition, every one had the mandatory free sweets, pens and prize draw to pull in the punters. I had some very interesting conversations and saw some excellent new products (and ate alot of chocolate!) whilst just wandering in between lectures.

As my first experience of a 2 day CPD event I thought it offered a well balanced variety of lectures on a wide range of subjects. One highlight for me was Stan Marks’ talk on feline triaditis, which was not only very informative but also lively and entertaining. Similarly the ophthalmology lectures given by Rick Sanchez were very useful and have taken some of the fear out of those ‘sore eye’ consults!

IDEXX provided a great series of talks that were hugely oversubscribed, and I don’t think it was only because of the free coffee and croissants, welcome as I’m sure they were to those who had attended ‘party night’ the night before!

All in all I would definitely recommend anyone in small animal practice to attend the London Vet Show, not only does it offer a broad spectrum of lectures and some of the countries top veterinary speakers, the free packed lunch was pretty good too!
