Boehringer aims to raise £20,000 for Hounds for Heroes in Seraquin® fundraising campaign

Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica has pledged to raise £20,000 for Hounds for Heroes in a Seraquin® fundraising campaign which will see the company make a donation to the charity for every pack of Seraquin sold.

Running until the end of December 2013, the fundraising initiative to raise £20,000 - the cost to buy, train and support an assistance dog throughout its life - will enable Hounds for Heroes to provide a specially trained assistance dog to an injured or disabled man or women from either the UK armed forces or civilian emergency services. In addition, Boehringer has agreed to pledge an additional £1 for every person who posts a picture on its new Seraquin Facebook page – www.facebook.com/seraquinuk - and tells them why ‘Life’s a ball’ with their dog.

To support the fundraising initiative, Boehringer has produced a Seraquin Hounds for Heroes’ poster for veterinary practices to put up in their waiting rooms. The company will also be running a prize draw competition for the opportunity to win an owner evening talk by the inspirational founder and vice-chairman of Hounds for Heroes, Allen Parton. The first 500 responses to this competition will each receive a Hounds for Heroes dog tag badge.

Rob Lucy, small animal brand manager at Boehringer, says: “Hounds for Heroes is an inspirational charity that really makes a difference to those who have been injured or disabled while putting their lives on the line for their country.”

Allen Parton, founder and vice-chairman of Hounds for Heroes, adds: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Boehringer to raise much-needed funds. Not only will it help us fund the purchase, training and support of a new puppy, but it will also encourage veterinary practices to talk to their clients about their dog’s mobility issues and the benefits of products such as Seraquin.”
