What can you and your practice learn from the retail giant?

SPVS and VPMA are set to deliver a coup with John Lewis HR and main board director Tracey Killen opening their congress at the end of this month. The John Lewis group had a record-breaking Christmas period with December 27th sales alone topping £35 million. With pressure on customer loyalty and a tightening of purse-strings, the retailer is thought to face challenges very similar to our own in the veterinary industry. John Lewis has adapted to these trends and not only survived, but thrived.

How have they managed this? Practices are urged to come along to congress to find out, and hear Tracey’s take on what vets can learn from the retail giant. She’s no stranger to the veterinary world, being the wife of highly successful practitioner Richard Killen, owner of the Highcroft Vet Group. Tracey is the plenary speaker on Friday 31st January, and shortly after joins accountant Mark Beaney in a session on remuneration and bonuses.  After lunch, Tracey takes part in the Leading Your Team stream with US training and development expert Katherine Eitel. The two will explore the common themes of high-performing teams.

The full programme and online booking can be found at www.vpma-spvs-events.co.uk/congress. The congress is open to everyone, including non-members, with substantial discounts for group bookings. Practices are urged to book soon to guarantee their place.
