Thai Animal Sanctuary is currently looking for a full-time veterinary surgeon who is qualified to provide medical services, including the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries in animals. We are seeking an individual that is team oriented and has excellent communication skills with fellow colleagues and clients alike. The primary role of this position will be as senior resident veterinarian providing clinical care to patients and resident animals, whilst working alongside our sanctuary manager and dedicated volunteers.

Basic Responsibilities

• investigating, diagnosing and treating diseases
• investigating, diagnosing and treating traumatic injuries
• administering vaccines and other medication/treatments
• running sterilisation program
• completing clinic reports and logs

Qualifications/Key Competencies

• demonstrate good knowledge and expertise in veterinary medicine
• proficiency in orthopaedic surgery (ideally including amputation)

Significant Work Activities and Conditions

• common conditions / injuries include wounds (bites, human inflicted, often maggot infestations), road traffic accidents, skin infestations such as mange, parvovirus, gastric upsets, pyrexia of unknown origin, pyometra, dystocia, distemper (sporadic outbreaks), rabies (although a low incidence area)

Salary: £400 per calendar month

Schedule: Full-time [1 day off per week, TBD]

Shift: Day [on-call for emergencies after hours]

Medical Requirements: vets are required to have updated vaccinations against both rabies and tetanus
